Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.

Primary Duties:

Such duties shall include but not limited to: installation, fabrication, repair, trouble shooting, operation and adjustment of mechanical and electrical equipment, machinery and motors.  This includes all auxiliary equipment, utilities and associated parts such as piping, valves, pumps, switches, compressed air systems, chiller and boilers.  As required observe mechanical devices in operation, uses condition monitoring tools to diagnose problems and predict performance while striving to remove sources of failure from equipment. Operate various types of shop tools and machines. Complete preventive maintenance inspections.


  • Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience working in an industrial environment within the maintenance department / group. 
  • Experience completing a variety of PM / PDM routine activities and equipment overhauls.
  • Must have strong mechanical knowledge, experience, and troubleshooting skills. 
  • Experience repairing, operating and starting up and shutting down a variety of mechanical equipment.  Examples – dust collectors, packers, hydraulic systems, pneumatic transfer systems, compressors, water towers, chiller, pumps dryers, softeners/polishers, AC units, propane systems, mobile equipment, piping / plumbing, lubrication systems,  and other facility related equipment.
  • Knowledge in use of general shop equipment such as lathes, mills, welding equipment, etc. as well as measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers and dial indicators.
  • Safe and proper use of hand tools, power tools and shop equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret mechanical and process drawings
  • Demonstrated communication skills at all levels and the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Knowledge of CMMS Software, SAP PM preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to work extended shift hours, other shifts, call-ins, holidays and weekend and overtime.
  • Basic computer skills to include MS office products including email and internet.
  • Able to work alone or with help to diagnose and correct mechanical & electrical problems.
  • Accept constructive criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with high-stress situations. This includes continuing to persevere and remaining calm in challenging or frustrating circumstances
  • Excellent communication skills and interaction with coworkers, supervisors and contractors.   Teamwork is a must.
  • Experience utilizing documentation processes such as work orders, reports & work history, cost tracking, parts usage, labor costs, and job procedures.
  • Aggressively maintains a safe working environment to include good housekeeping practices of assigned work area and comply with all applicable environmental, health and safety policies.
  • Notify production supervisor of any problems.    
  • Perform quality workmanship and complete work in a timely manner.    
  • Initiate and complete all necessary documentation to comply with company and regulatory policies.
  • Assist in training and orientation of co-workers.
