WORK

 

What you'll be doing:

  • Owning and driving pilot plant activities and operating key pilot plant equipment
  • Blending materials in the laboratory for application in the pilot plant or manufacturing facility
  • Collecting data manually and/or by computer (notes unusual results or material behavior)
  • Entering processing data and testing data in Excel files
  • Cleaning and maintaining equipment after use
  • Creating or revising SOP/JIS and JSA when needed
  • Managing the inventory of chemicals and other materials to support key project work
  • Preparing flooring materials such as vinyl, coatings and adhesives for testing
  • Performing physical test procedures on Armstrong Flooring materials and products varying in complexity and duration to insure products meet required specifications, or to help develop specifications for new products
  • Supporting Innovation project teams with the execution of key work packages
  • Interacting daily with immediate work group and lending support to the Innovation team and Armstrong Flooring plants as needed

 

Travel:

  • Approximately 5-10% as determined by business need
     

What you'll bring to the table:

  • High School Diploma or Associate degree in a technical field is preferred
  • The ability to problem solve
  • Self-starter with high level of motivation to support the team
  • An understanding of appropriate safety regulations and procedures for handling chemicals
  • Strong customer focus and sense of urgency
  • The ability to communicate and work effectively as a member of a fast paced team
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • The ability to adapt quickly to new situations in order to manage changing priorities
  • Ability to safely lift, carry and position rolls, cartons, and pieces of flooring weighing up to 40 lbs.
