Who you'll work with:

  • R&D and New Product Development teams
  • Manufacturing plant Chemists, Engineers and Operators
  • Report to the R&D Manager


 What you'll be doing:

  • Product Development Engineers support new product development with some support of the overall company’s analytical testing needs
  • Test mechanical properties, materials characterization, and analytical testing to support development
  • Analyze data with statistical software and reporting
  • Pilot plant support of major projects
  • Own of key technical development areas as part of a larger new product development project
  • Work in a team to develop new products, improve test methods, evaluate competitor products, and create new intellectual property
  • Statistical data analysis, documentation, and reporting of findings
  • Qualify recycled materials for performance and safe use in our products
  • Works with vendors as needed to support projects and troubleshoot equipment
  • Own testing equipment including calibration, supplies, and maintenance
  • Keep a strong commitment to safe practices including SOP’s, chemical inventory, labeling, and housekeeping
  • Travel to plants or vendors within and outside the United States.  Moderate travel expected, up to 30%, depending on project stage


What you'll bring to the table:

  • Materials Science Engineering degree, Polymer Science degree, Chemical Engineering degree, or related major; Bachelor's or Master's required
  • 3+ years of experience in product development and/or manufacturing of building products, plastics industry, or related field
  • Knowledge of statistics, how to analyze data, and create data visualization to guide decision making
  • Able to support multiple projects and work within a larger team
  • Drive to complete tasks and push projects forward to meet deadlines
  • Desire to learn from colleagues and independently to expand the team’s knowledge and skills
  • Strong attention to detail while understanding the big picture


We'll be excited if you have:

  • Experience in the resilient or multi-layer flooring industry
  • Background in polymeric materials processing, testing, and theory
  • Experience with mechanical properties testing such DMA, Impact Testing, etc.
  • Experience with UV cured coatings and coatings testing
  • Experience operating pilot plant equipment or in a manufacturing plant environment

Product Development Engineer Salary: $59,000 - $87,000 + bonus, based on experience
