The Accounting Specialist will be responsible for general accounting, standard reporting, budgeting & forecasting, journal entries, as well as, liaising with functional Centers of Excellence

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform various accounting activities and miscellaneous duties associated with general accounting.   Tasks include:
    • Monthly journal entries, account reconciliations and balance sheet review
    • Submission of financial data to internal and external departments, including  governmental surveys
    • Budgeting and forecasting
    • Prepare monthly financial statements
  • Perform fixed asset accounting activities including project management reporting, asset creation and monthly postings.
  • Perform accounting closing activities including accounting for derivative financial instruments and employee benefit plans.
  • Prepare actionable reporting and analysis to support the company’s financial closings and internal/external reporting processes and to ensure the reliability of reported results.
  • Communicate with colleagues at various locations (Corporate headquarter, plants, subsidiaries) to resolve issues and closing discrepancies and follows through with appropriate action.
  • Recommend, develop and implement changes to continually improve processes, support standardization and effectiveness.
  • Ensure all schedules /deadlines are met on time and accurate in accordance with Service Level Agreements.
  • Document policies, procedures, workflow, and checklists for assigned responsibilities.
  • Confirm and abide by all regulatory guidance and internal policies and procedures.

Travel:

  • Minimal (<5%)

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance 
  • Minimum of 1 year of accounting experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite – particularly MS Excel

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAP experience

  • Customer focused with strong attention to detail and capable of delivering accurate, quality results in a timely, consistent, and professional manner
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to interact comfortably and respectfully with all levels of plant and corporate personnel. Proven ability to successfully manage and resolve conflict

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the functions of this job. Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions with standard level of noise common to an office environment including office equipment and co-workers speaking to each other and on phones. Employees are required to wear personal protective equipment when entering the floor of manufacturing facilities based on the specific requirements of each location.
